WASHINGTON DC: Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva concluded a pivotal three-hour meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday, expressing that he was ‘very, very satisfied’ with the progress made.

Describing the talks as a significant step for both nations, Lula highlighted a renewed commitment to the historic democratic relationship between Brazil and the United States. He remarked to journalists that the positive atmosphere was a clear indicator of success, noting that a smiling President Trump is a welcome sign for bilateral relations.

The discussions were notably transparent, with Lula stressing that Brazil maintains no ‘veto or prohibited topics’ in its diplomatic engagements, ranging from trade tariffs to critical minerals.

However, he remained firm on the principle that the country will not compromise on its democracy or national sovereignty. In the coming days, ministerial teams from both sides are scheduled to continue negotiations to build upon the framework established during this Washington visit.
