Washington DC: U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has resigned from her high-profile post, citing her husband Abraham Williams’ recent diagnosis of bone cancer.
In her official statement, Gabbard made it clear that her family is her immediate priority, explaining that she could not continue to manage the demanding, time-consuming responsibilities of overseeing the nation's intelligence apparatus while her husband faces a severe health crisis.
‘I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming post,’ Gabbard said, emphasizing her decision to step away.
Her resignation marks a sudden departure from the administration's core national security team. During her tenure, Gabbard occupied a critical and frequently debated role in Washington's intelligence landscape. The administration has not yet announced a permanent successor to fill the vacancy left by her departure.
