Man arrested for trying to smuggle drugs

Manama: A Bangladeshi man was arrested trying to smuggle 897 narcotic pills, according to the court documents.

The defendant is said to have hidden the pills in slippers, and customs officers recovered them when they inspected his belongings upon his arrival to Bahrain.

The Bangladeshi man, however, denied his involvement with the pills, stating that the slippers were given to him by a fellow countryman before he travelled to Bahrain. The defendant is slapped with charges on possessing illicit drugs with the intention to use and sell them.
