Member of Parliament Ahmed Al Saloom has submitted a parliamentary question to the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Abdulla Fakhro, demanding a comprehensive study on investment opportunities within the industrial sector.

The inquiry, detailed in a formal memorandum, seeks clarification on several key points. Firstly, it asks whether the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has conducted a study identifying investment opportunities to localise production and substitute imports.

The MP further requests information on supporting programmes and initiatives aligned with the 2022-2026 industrial sector strategy.

Crucially, Al Saloom's question probes the existence of a plan to amend legislation to prioritise locally manufactured products, mirroring practices in neighbouring countries.

This highlights a concern about the competitiveness of Bahraini industries and the need for a level playing field. Finally, the MP seeks details on the government's role in encouraging investment in the industrial sector.

This parliamentary inquiry underscores the importance of attracting investment and boosting local manufacturing in Bahrain.
