US Faces Partial Shutdown as House Delays Vote

Washington: The US faces a partial shutdown after the Senate passed a stopgap spending bill 71‑29, but the House won’t vote until Monday. Federal agencies are told to prepare, though any lapse is expected to be brief.

The Senate plan separates Homeland Security funding from other agencies, keeping Defense, Labor and Education running while immigration enforcement negotiations continue, following recent fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis.
