Al Shamlan praises Shaikh Nasser
The Tournament Director of Ironman 70.3 Bahrain Abdullah Al Shamlan has praised the great role HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee has played ahead of this Saturday’s event in order to run and make the event a success. This will be the first event of its kind in the Middle East and Al Shamlan noted the efforts of Shaikh Nasser and the organising committee in this regard to ensure the right conditions for the more than 1,100 male and female triathletes from not only Bahrain and the GCC but worldwide from all nationalities who are competing.
Al Shamlan said that this is a high profile sporting event which will portray Bahrain for all its achievements and in a good sporting light as the latest of many high profile events that the kingdom has successfully hosted. He also said the organising committee had been motivated by its head Shaikh Nasser to work diligently and faithfully through teamwork for the success of the race in which every possible effort has been made and help make Bahrain the centre of Triathlon sport in the Middle East. Al Shamlan hoped that preparations for the race had ironed out any problems encountered in the Bahrain Challenge and all aspects would go smoothly without a hitch.
Among the participants are Bahrain’s very own Elite 13 Endurance Team who number many champions this season and in the past. Organisers have been coordinating with various government bodies to ensure the safety of all the participants, in both the swimming, cycling and running sections along with providing rest and water stops and medical assistance provided if required and wishing everyone success in this prestigious event.
