Alba win National Day tourney
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) defeated Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) 111-64 in the final of the two-week long Alba-sponsored National Day Basketball Tournament at the Alba club premises.
The tournament featured the hosts along with RCSI, Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) and Tatweer Petroleum.
Congratulating the Alba team on its win, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray, who was also one of the starting players for the team and said, “At Alba, we believe supporting events plays an important role both within the Company as well as in the local community. Sports are a great way to build teamwork and encourage fellowship among our employees. The Alba team displayed great teamwork and dedication which resulted in the championship victory over RCSI. I would like to thank the participation of the other major companies in this event and we look forward to a formation of an industrial league for basketball in the future.”
The Alba-sponsored National Day Basketball Tournament, which commenced on November 11, 2015, was part of the Company’s initiatives to encourage the culture of sports amongst the employees and the people of the Kingdom. The Alba Basketball Team was considered as one of the top contenders for the Tournament’s title this year, which witnessed the participation of major companies such as RCSI, Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), GPIC and Tatweer Petroleum.
