Bapco, Alba sign gas supply deal

Under the patronage of Energy Minister Dr.Abdulhussain Mirza, the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) hosted a ceremony to sign a gas supply agreement between Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba). 

Energy Minister Dr. Mirza and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alba Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa were present. 

The deal was signed by Bapco’s CEO Dr. Pete Bartlett and Alba’s CEO Tim Murray, in the presence of officials from NOGA, Bapco and Alba.

The minister extended congratulations to the kingdom’s leadership, as well as Bapco and Alba for the signing of the key gas supply agreement, stressing that the deal marks the real start of  Alba’s development projects, in addition to sixth Smelter.

He said that supplying Alba’s sixth Smelter with natural gas embodies the leadership’s keenness to support the industrial development in the Kingdom, and achieve the ambitions outlined in the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 regarding the diversification of revenue sources. 

Shaikh Daij bin Salman expressed since thanks and gratitude to the leadership for its constant support to Alba’s projects.

Bapco’s CEO Dr. Pete Bartlett voiced pride in signing the agreement with Alba, expressing delight at entering in a promising partnership with Alba in the sixth Smelter expansion project.
