Passenger traffic at Muscat International Airport increases by 16%

The total passenger traffic (including transit & transfer passengers) through Muscat International Airport has increased by 16 % to 8,466,973 passengers until October 2015 compared to 7,312,502 passengers for the same period of 2014. 

Statistics show an increase in the arrival passengers by 17% to 4,274,669 passengers until October this year compared to 3,662,932 passengers for the same period of the year 2014, according to Oman News Agency (ONA).

The number of departing passengers has also increased by 15 % to 4,164,817 passengers until October this year compared to 3,619,774 passengers for the same period of the year 2014. 

The increase in arrival and departure traffic into Muscat International Airport is attributed to the increasing in the number of flights operated by existing airlines, such as Kuwait Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and Oman Air. 

In terms of air freight traffic at Muscat International airport, Aviation Statistics indicate an increase in the total unloaded and loaded freight by 9%, with total shipment (110,655 ton) compared to (101,390 ton) in the same period in 2014. 

Salalah Airport has witnessed an increase by 21% in the total number of arriving and departing passengers to 865,337 passengers until October 2015 compared to 714,415 passengers for the same period of 2014. 

As for the movement of Air cargo at Salalah Airport, freight traffic has increased, bringing the loaded and unloaded freight to (1330 ton) until October 2015 compared to (1021 tons) in the same period in 2014, ONA reported.
