'I am still alive, not dead'

An Indian man living in Saudi Arabia has clarified that it is not him who had died yesterday in a road accident in Bahrain.

Two Indian men, from the south Indian state of Kerala, died early yesterday morning in a head-on collision with another car at Riffa.

Venu Nellikkal, 44, died immediately on the spot while Anil Kumar, 29, died while at the BDF Hospital.

The driver of their vehicle Ismail is in critical condition at the hospital.

Meanwhile messages were being circulated in whatsapp Bahrain – based groups that an Indian man Anil Kumar Thaivalappil was the person who died in the accident. A screenshot of his Facebook account’s home page was also being attached along with the message. The confusion is believed to have occurred because of the name being same as one of the two men who died yesterday.

According to message, Anil Kumar Thaivalappil was admitted at the BDF Hospital and his friends or relatives were requested to contact with the hospital.

However Mr Thaivalappil has cleared this confusion through his FB page. He posted that the news of his death being circulated was fake and that he was fine. He also made a video to say the same and assured his family (back home) and well wishers that he had not met with any accident and is doing well. He also mentioned in the video that he was not aware who started this rumour and it could be with a bad intention to hurt him.

“I have seen a post being circulated (in social media) that I have met with an accident,” he said in the video. “As you can see, I am fine and doing well. This fake post was created by someone to hurt me. So none of my family members, relatives and friends must believe this fake news. Nothing has happened to me.”

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry has warned people several times against circulating fake and unconfirmed news in social media that causes unnecessary panic and confusion.
