Seeing is Believing

Guinness World Record holding necklace by Kaufmann de Suisse is exhibited at Jewellery Arabia Bahrain.

The quality and size of this striking and rare gem, combined with the internationally renowned jewellery design imprimatur of the House of Kaufmann de Suisse is causing a huge stir among top art and jewellery collectors worldwide, making the Arabian unveiling a truly significant event.

The gem is 191.87 carats of optical transparency (measuring 36.44 x 33.75 x 21.85 mm), shattering the previous Guinness World Records holder with its mass of just under 51.77 carats.

The modified brilliant cut oval shaped Paraiba tourmaline is a testament to over 4.5 billion years of Earth’s history, and is a natural treasure of historical importance.

This extremely rare precious stone has been placed on a very short list of the world’s most famous gems in history by experts in the field, along with the 422.99 carat Logan Sapphire in the Smithsonian collection; the Golden Jubilee Diamond, which at 545.67 carats is the world’s largest cut and faceted diamond (now in the collection of Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyade); and the 15.97 carat Alan Caplan Ruby (also known as the Moguk Ruby) purchased in 1988 for the Sultan of Brunei.

A tribute to the world’s oceans, the one-of-a-kind necklace includes multi-colour precious and semi-precious gemstones along with an over ten carat fancy coloured yellow diamond, bringing focus to the transparent blue of the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba tourmaline.

The piece was created to highlight the beauty and purity of the gifts created by the earth and the living ecosystems within our oceans, and as an appeal to protect and live in balance on our planet.

Jewellery Arabia represents the largest and most prestigious jewellery exhibition in the Middle East, showcasing world famous brands and unique designers from across the globe in the gemstone & jewellery industry.
