Rugby Club A team on top in Netball
Defending champions DHL Rugby Club A maintained joint top position after the fifth round of matches in the DHL Bahrain Netball League last night at the British Club premises following a 34-9 defeat of DHL Rugby Club B.
Rugby Club A comprising Khulood Sabah (goal shooter), Ruth Daly (goal attack), Sarah Hobday (wing attack), Hilary Johnston (centre), player of the match and wing defence Jeannine Wessels, Katy Brand (goal defence) and Helen Hind (goalkeeper) began well and led 11-2 by the first quarter.
The champs had a tougher second quarter as Rugby B comprising Molly Cramp (GS), Bridget Coffey (GA), player of the match and wing attack Marianne Ballard, Sarah Hugo (C), Nicol Taylor (WD), Nicola ‘Boomer’ McHugh (GD) and Karlien Theron (GK) cut the deficit to 5-17 at halftime.
With a quarter remaining Rugby A led 26-7 as they marched on to victory. Main rivals to Rugby A are BMMI Dilmun A and they maintained a five wins from five record against GNT Sri Lanka Club winning 55-3. Dilmun A took a 13-1 first quarter lead, were 30-1 up at half-time and went into the last quarter 44-2 ahead.
