Alba employees to continue protest

Manama

Alba Labour Union has decided to continue its protest against the alleged decision to scrap annual social increment of BD20.

Last Monday, members of the union staged protest, opposing the decision of the management to scrap the increment.

Addressing media yesterday, chairman of the union Ali Al Binali stated the labour union, which has more than 2400 members, would protest on every Thursday.

Meanwhile, he made it clear that the ongoing protest in no way would affect the production.

“All the workers were getting the allowance since 2006. But this time the management has decided to scrap it. We have already communicated our dissatisfaction to the higher authorities. But so far we have not received any positive response,” he said.

“The decision to stage protest was taken during last Sunday’s general assembly,” said Ali Al Binali, claiming the decision of Alba top management had affected the morale of the employees.

Alba management declined to comment on the issue.
