BCCI approves meeting agenda

Manama : The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) announced its agenda for the forthcoming General Assembly meeting scheduled on Sunday at 4 pm.

The agenda was approved after making amends in the “Any other business” section of the meeting to include a suggestion made by members following departmental reviews.

Two written requests, according to BCCI Chairman Sameer Nass, were received for inclusion in the meeting agenda.

The first request, submitted on 15th April 2018, was signed by 43 registered members of the chamber.  However, the request was rejected as it did not fulfil the requirements.

According to BCCI law: “The General Assembly may discuss unlisted items on the agenda following a written request signed by 50 members, addressed to the chairman and submitted no less than two working days prior to the scheduled date of the General Assembly meeting.”

The second request received on Tuesday and signed by 77 members was found to meet the requirements.

The meeting agenda for discussion include Ratification of the Minutes of the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting held on 17th April 2017; Annual Report of the Board of Directors on the Chamber’s activities for the year 2017; financial situation and the External Auditor’s Report for the financial year 2017 and appointment of an External auditor.

Items listed for discussion under “Any other business” session include amending the Chamber’s bylaw article (48) for the year 2012 and its regulation; Lawsuits filed by the chamber against its members; Manama Souq revamping project; financial and administrative violations at the chamber during the 28th term; violation in appointing the current Chief Executive Officer and terminating the former Chief Executive Officer of the chamber; issue of terminated and/or down-graded employees and managers of the chamber, and allegations of an embezzlement.

The General Assembly Meeting will be valid with the presence of 200 members or 10% of the number of the registered members.  If there is no quorum another meeting will be held on 29th April 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
