Five-year-old boy drowns in abandoned swimming pool
Manama : A five-year-old Bahraini boy, Ali Jassim, drowned in an abandoned swimming pool in Dar Kulaib village on Monday.
The mishap took place when the boy, accompanied by his friends, sneaked into the abandoned swimming pool near Roundabout 22 in Hamad Town.
According to the residents there, the pool, half-empty, has been abandoned and left unlocked for a while, following a legal dispute between the landlord and the renter.
The boy was rescued and rushed to the Military Hospital in Riffa, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Few hours after the incident, the poll was emptied and cleaned in a bid to prevent similar mishaps from occurring.
Police launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased was buried yesterday at Dar Kulaib graveyard.
