Bahrain, UAE one at heart: Ambassador

ManamaThe impact left by Bahrain’s leadership and its people during his tenure will always remain deep in his heart, UAE Ambassador to Bahrain, Abdulredha Abdullah Al Khouri said yesterday.

Ambassador Al Khouri was speaking to DT News on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission to Bahrain after serving as UAE’s representative for the past three years.

“The joys of the UAE are the joys of Bahrain. The two countries are one at heart,” he said.

Al Khouri expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King for his appreciation and support while serving in the country.  

His Majesty the King’s wisdom, humanity and love towards his people has enabled Bahrain to progress and prosper, he said. 

 The ambassador expressed appreciation to His Royal Highness  Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa for personally participating in the UAE’s National Day celebrations hosted in Bahrain, a reflection of His Royal Highness’ love and appreciation towards the UAE’s leadership and its people.

“His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince blessed me with appreciation and hospitality by continuously expressing their sincere noble feelings and their great appreciation and pride towards the United Arab Emirates, its leadership and its people,” said Ambassador Al Khouri.

“I was always overwhelmed with His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, his children  and grandchildren’s  personal participation during UAE occasions, namely our  National Day when HRH visited our residential headquarters for the official celebration hosted by the embassy, together with several ministers and senior officials in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” he said.

The kind gestures of the Bahraini leadership will continue to enhance the brotherly Bahraini and UAE relations, promoting and cementing what is best for the two countries and the region, he said. 

 Ambassador Al Khouri said he was honoured to receive an invitation to the weekly majlis of HRH the Prime Minister, the meetings were a source of values, knowledge and wisdom adding that he has keenly participated in the events, forums and exhibitions hosted by Bahrain including across the five governorates.

Ambassador Al Khouri said that during his time in Bahrain, he witnessed continuous progress and prosperity in the country.

“I followed with great interest the blessed renaissance witnessed in the country, the development that accompanied it in the light of the glorious reform era of His Majesty the King,” he said.

He also thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support. 

“The brotherly and friendly ties I experienced in the kingdom will remain a great asset which I will cherish for the rest of my life.  Therefore, I will not say goodbye to a nation that has been deeply engraved in my heart,” he said.

He also mentioned the joint activities in several fields like the equestrian and camel races and hunting trips. 

The meetings between the leaders of the countries continue to be brotherly, often far from the official protocol which is a reflection of shared historical ties. 

 The security cooperation between the two countries had  the greatest impact in promoting the safety and stability of the two nations which continue to prosper day after day.

Al Khouri, a profile

Born in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Abdulredha Abdullah Al Khoury finished his studies in the city of PATH, the UK, and got involved in the diplomatic corps through serving as Ambassador At Large to  Somalia, assigned to Geneva as ambassador to the European Headquarters Of the United Nations between 1989 and 1994. From 1994 to 1997, he served as Ambassador At Large to Austria, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna and Ambassador Non-resident of the Slovak Republic. He then served in the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1997 to 2000. He was appointed Ambassador At Large to Qatar until 2010 during which he also became Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. During his tenure in Qatar, He was awarded the Medal of Merit from 2010 to 2012 and served as Ambassador to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs before being appointed Ambassador At Large to the Sultanate of Oman from 2012 to 2014. He was then Ambassador at large to the Kingdom of Bahrain From  3 January 2015.
