Creative, innovative displays at Ahlia’s Interior Design Day

Manama : A number of interior design students showed their creativeness and innovation in the “ Interior Design Day” event, which was organized by the Interior Design Club on 27 February on the 3rd floor of Ahlia University. 

A number of professors and faculty of Arts and Sciences department attended this event, in addition to some students from the same major. The event was to introduce the first year students to the most important information related to the interior design major.

The “Interior Design Day” event was launched by the Dean of Arts and Sciences Department, Dr. Said Al-Hajjar, who began by welcoming the audience and thanked all the officials and organizers of this event. It was mentioned that the specialization of interior design is concerned with practical training and not only theoretical education. He concluded: “I encourage you to make the most effort possible to refine your skills”.

Dr. Aisha Al Jowder continued by expressing her happiness and gratitude to the students and faculty participated at the event. She encouraged the students by speaking about her own experience over the past years, and stated that the students should do their best to highlight their abilities and skills.

The Interior Design Club introduced first year students to the interior design specialization and handed them the important information they need about the syllabus of each course and brief description of what they will study in each year. They also gave a comparison between the interior designer, the decorator and the architect, saying that these terms are different from the interior designer job.

At the end of the event, the attendees, Dr. Said Al Hajjar, Dean of Arts and Sciences Department, Dr. Aisha Al Jowder, Dr. Hassan Said, Assistant Professor, and students took a short tour to see the students’ work that they presented. A member of the club, Alaa Al-Alawi, pointed out that the interior design stages start with handicrafts such as painting, and then move to the stage of electronic works by design programs using the AUTOCAD program or 3D drawing programs.
