Dr Jawahery named GPCA Vice Chairman

Manama Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA).

During a recent Board meeting in Dubai, it also approved the appointment of Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan as its Chairman.

Dr. Jawahery expressed his gratitude for the decision to continue his Chairmanship of the GPCA’s Fertilizer Committee. 

Dr. Jawahery praised the expansion of GPCA activities and programmes and its achieving new dimensions, especially with organizing the annual forum. 

Dr. Jawahery holds a PhD from London’s South Bank University and a Master’s of Chemical Engineering, also from London. He is Chairman of the Arab Fertilizer Association and the first Arab to have been named Chairman of the International Fertilizer Industry Association. 

He has also held several senior and important positions in local, regional and global institutions and organizations and is a prominent and influential figure in the petrochemical industry worldwide. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the United States’ National Safety Council, again a first for the Arab world and the Middle East.

Established in 2006, the GPCA has at its members more than 90 per cent of the region’s petrochemicals and chemicals producers.
