Mohammed Almoayyed to run for BCCI board membership

ManamaMohammed Farouk Almoayyed, Chairman of one of Bahrain’s leading family businesses, Almoayyed International Group  (AIG), announces his intent to run for board membership in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (BCCI) 29th elections on March 10th  2018.

This will be the second term for Mohammed, the third generation of a prominent private sector business as well as an entrepreneur passionate about fostering the growth and support of local start-ups and entrepreneurs.

Mohammed has been vocal in his support of Bahrain’s SME sector and is in favour of transparency in regulation as well as easy access to funding for start-ups.

His first 4-year term with the BCCI was built on providing a stable yet dynamic support to the Board. He was noted for his approachable leadership style which had a positive impact on the business community.

Almoayyed commented: “The digital age is creating a new market with a new era of entrepreneurs. I do not want to ignore or underestimate the impact and potential of Bahraini millennials and tech start-ups. In my capacity, I want to actively foster their growth and be a part of the creation of a regulatory environment in which they and all investors can thrive.”

In line with his passion for supporting SMEs, Mohammed is a shareholder in Tenmou, Bahrain’s first Angel Investment Fund, under which he has helped many locally-bred businesses to incubate and succeed.

Mohammed also places a huge emphasis on philanthropy, contributing to local society through AIG’s corporate social responsibility programmes and in a personal family capacity. This spans from initiatives such as a technology centre introduced under AIG at the University of Bahrain to the medical sector such as Farouk Almoayyed Physiotherapy Center for Children with Cerebral Palsy.

As Chairman of AIG and a director in Y.K. Almoayyed and Sons, one of Bahrain’s largest family conglomerates, Mohammed is actively involved across many industries, including automotive, food and beverage, IT, retail, construction, including household names such as Nissan, Ford, York Airconditioning, Microsoft, Amazon Web-services, Lanterns, and Mirai.

With the help of Mohammed’s keen eye for new technologies and innovative services, AIG continues to grow its operations throughout the Gulf. He is also a Board Member of a number of publicly listed and privately held Bahraini institutions such as BMMI and National Finance House.

He looks forward to positively contribute to the economic growth and development of Bahrain’s business community.
