NMS-DPS stands out as top debate team

107 students from New Millennium School - DPS made the school proud by winning 84 Gold Medals and 178 Silver Medals at the World Scholar’s Cup Bahrain Round, Junior Category, held at St. Christopher’s School on 9th and 10th February, 2018.

The event which takes place every year afforded thirteen schools across the Kingdom having a total of 322 teams in the Junior Category. It provided the participating students the opportunity to explore various arenas on the theme ‘An Entangled World’, touching upon the nuances of Human Relationships, Social Sciences, Art & Music, Science and Literature.

The motivated students of the school discovered new challenges, practiced new skills and gave inspirational speeches on many sub-topics. The students stunned the audience by their panache in rigorous debate on a range of topics based on the subjects illustrated above.

It was a proud moment when the NMS team comprising of Hridam Saha, Nidhi Kaushik and Nandini Sharma bagged the first position in Debate out of all the participating schools in Bahrain. The school was also felicitated with a memento for being the third Top Scholar Team in the Kingdom. Akshat Pradeep Kumar was awarded with Gold Medal and Trophy for being the School Top Scholar. Atiriya Sarkar, Ishaan Gupta and Vipra Agrawal received Gold Medals for winning 5th position in the Collaborative Writing Challenge.

Chairman, Dr. Ravi Pillai, Managing Director, Geetha Pillai and Principal Arun Kuumar Sharma congratulated the students for bringing in accolades to the institution. The Principal reiterated that the objectives of the competition were in line with DPS drive to prepare students with high-quality debating, collaborative writing and answering quiz style questions. He also told that such competitions have boosted the aptitude of the students and also wished them all success in the Global Round, which is to be held at Barcelona, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne later this year.2
