Iraqi president vowes full support for war on terror

Baghdad : Iraqi President yesterday vowed full support and solidarity for Arab nations in the ongoing fight against terrorism. 

Acknowledging the efforts exerted to bring peace in the region, Fuad Masum said, “Iraq is continuing its efforts to fight terrorism, dry up its sources and confront all parties supporting it.”

He was speaking with a Bahraini delegation headed by First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, MP Ali Al-Aradi. 

The Bahraini delegation, on an official visit to the country at the invitation of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, includes MPs Majid Al-Majid, the Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, Dr Majeed Al-Asfoor, Hamad Al-Dossary, Khalid Al-Shaer and Mohammed Al-Jowdar. 

During the meeting, President Masum lauded the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and his constant keenness on championing Arab causes at various international gatherings.

The first deputy speaker conveyed greetings from the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, to Iraqi leadership and people, hailing Iraq’s anti-terror efforts and reiterating Bahrain’s firm stances in support of Iraq’s security, stability and unity.

The visit, Al-Aradi said, will enhance Bahraini-Iraqi parliamentary cooperation, and broaden areas of bilateral cooperation, in light of the political developments and the economic changes that are taking place and affecting the entire region.
