India ready to host Bahrain sporting events, says Gandhi

Manama : India is open to hosting any sports championship or tournament by Bahrain on its territories, said Congress President Rahul Gandhi. 

This, Rahul Gandhi said, will present an opportunity to develop the sports sector in both countries.

The Congress President also praised the steps taken by Bahrain in boosting sports, citing the tremendous role of HH Shaikh Khalid in supporting the various sports especially the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). 

This came during a discussion of Rahul Gandhi with His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, Honorary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts (BMMA) Association, and founder of Khalid bin Hamad Sports Organisation. 

His Highness talked about the progress of Bahraini sports in general and especially the equestrian and endurance game, the IronMan Championship, Bahrain’s hosting the IMMAF’s World Championship2017, lauding the steps taken by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Shaikh Khalid reviewed the initiative of organising BRAVE championships that met with wide acclamation in the world’s sports circles, praising India’s support to the championship by hosting its fifth edition. 

Towards the end of their meeting, Shaikh Khalid received a commemorative gift from the President of India’s National Congress Party.
