PM calls for more effective ‘cooperation mechanisms’
Kuwait/Manama : Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday urged countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to unify their stances saying that “the once effective cooperation mechanisms are no longer suitable for the current situation and its economic and security challenges.”
Nations in the GCC, Prince Khalifa said, should indulge in more welfare activities to bring “prosperity to the region, after a burdensome year of incidents”.
HRH the Prime Minister said this while speaking with Kuwaiti Amir, Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabar in the presence of Kuwaiti Crown Prince, Shaikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister, Shaikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The Prime Minister was in Kuwait on a fraternal visit. The visit, HRH the Premier said, is for “ensuring the bilateral cooperation between our two countries and pushing it forward to achieve the hopes and ambitions of our two brotherly peoples”.
Discussions focused on the overall regional and global issues and their effects on the region.
Shaikh Sabah and HRH the Prime Minister stressed that consultative and coordination meetings will continue “to further bolster bilateral ties and promote them as a role model for relations between countries”.
HRH Premier said that the gracious welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation reflect the advanced level of the Bahraini-Kuwaiti relations.
“I am delighted on this occasion to praise the development and growth witnessed by Kuwait under the leadership of His Highness the Amir of the sisterly State of Kuwait,” the Prime Minister told Kuwaiti Amir.
HRH the Premier was bidden farewell at the airport by his Kuwait counterpart and his deputies as well as senior officials, the Bahraini Ambassador to Kuwait and the embassy staff members.
