Gulf Cup: Special flights for Bahraini fans

Manama : The special flight allocated for Bahraini fans to attend the national team’s third match in the ongoing 23rd Gulf Cup in Kuwait today was fully booked in just 45 minutes.

The flight was allocated as per the instructions of by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa so the fans could attend Bahrain’s match against Qatar, a crucial match that will determine if the team would be able to qualify in the semifinals of the tournament.

Additionally, HH Shaikh Nasser directed the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry to allocate a second and larger airplane to fly the fans to Kuwait today, that is in addition to ten buses that have moved to Kuwait through Saudi Arabia last night.

The ministry posted on its official page on Instagram that the fans should be above 15 years of age and should register at the ministry’s headquarters in Seef District.

This came after all seats were booked on the first flight allocated by HH Shaikh Nasser at 8:45 am, exactly 45 minutes after the ministry’s doors were opened to receive the fans.

It’s noteworthy that the tournament will conclude on January 5 and that Bahrain played two matches in the past week against Iraq (1-1) and won Oman (1-0). If Bahrain wins this match, it will qualify for semifinals to meet the qualifying team from the second group.
