Women empowerment

Yesterday her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa honoured public and private sector organisations that have empowered women in their sectors.

We salute Her Royal Highness for the award for women empowerment that mainly aims at placing capable and qualified women in jobs through which they contribute towards the overall growth of their beloved country.

And we salute the government organisations and private sector for successfully achieving their targets and empowering women.

This award reflects the dedication of the highest authority in empowering women towards showing appreciation and gratitude for Bahraini women who have especially in the last two decades accepted many challenges and got involved in work places that we one day only saw men serve in. But this is the case always. The highest authorities empower women..and many organisations in both the public and private sectors execute and implement these policies but unfortunately there remain to be organisations in the public sector itself that fail to empower women and still consider women second class ..not citizens..but also human beings and deprive women of climbing the ladder and occupying the seats and the management levels men have always occupied.

This has always been the case..His Majesty the King appoints women as ministers and members of the Shura Council and the public fail to vote for women and just a few reach the parliament..It is certainly impossible to question voters choices since this is what democracy is all about.Majority wins. But what we as a state should do is question the organisations that do not empower women..organisations that actually demoralise capable and qualified women. These are organisations that report to the government and should be held accountable for depriving women of their rights.

Many surveys and statistics provided by such organisations do give numbers that say something about women’s involvement in the workforce but numbers do not necessarily reflect the bitter truth and reality. Your Royal Highness..special gratitude goes to you for believing in us. The supreme Council for Women..special thanks to all the efforts you exert into spreading awareness on the role of women in our society and empowering them through the committees that are formed to involve more women in leading position. But what we as Bahraini women also need is a committee that is strictly dedicated to monitoring how high managements in some government organisations deprive women of rights which you as the highest authority has granted us. These organisations need to understand the constitutional rights of women and abide to what our leadership has granted us.

The formula is simple..we have proven success in all the positions we were assigned to but some officials appointed in high positions have proven failure.
