A festival in the right direction, says veteran Bahraini actor

Manama The third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability will boost Bahrain’s status as the birthplace of brilliant actors and actresses, directors and scriptwriters in the Arab world, said veteran Bahraini Actor Mohammed Awwad.

During a visit to the festival, Awwad also commended the efforts taken by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa in grooming local talents and ensuring their participation in cultural
activities.

“Developing their talents and allowing them to demonstrate their onstage skills will promote the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Arab World as the birthplace of brilliant actors and actresses, directors and scriptwriters,” Awwad said.

Mohammed Awwad was the guest of honour of the “Speech of the Brush” play performed by Al-Naeem Youth Centre as the last additional show on the sidelines of the festival at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen.

Awwad praised the team members and administration of Al-Naeem Youth Centre for presenting such an outstanding show.

The play was also attended by Ahmed Al-Khayat, President of Bahrain Self-Defence Federation and Rashid Nabeel Al-Hamer, Development Manager at Al-Ayam Newspaper.

The shows at the festival conclude today with the performance of “The Auspicious Visit” play by the National Foundation for the Services of People with Disabilities Team.

The festival is organised for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa. It began on October 4 and will conclude on October 21.  

The 18-day festival comes within Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Initiatives to support Bahraini youth. This year’s edition is themed #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile.

Bapco Silver Sponsor

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) yesterday announced its backing for the third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability as a silver sponsor.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa welcomed the initiative of Bapco and said that the strategies of the company reflect its concern on supporting the youth, cultural and sports movement in Bahrain.

On his part, Nawaf Hussain Sultan Al-Ghanim, Corporate Communication Director of Bapco said that the company is proud to sponsor the festival and appreciates the support of HH to the youth and sports movement in the kingdom. 

He explained that the sponsorship comes within the responsibilities of Bapco to achieve community partnership.
