Preparations in full swing for Amateur MMA championship

ManamaPreparations are in full swing for the upcoming World Amateur MMA Championship that will be organised in the Kingdom of Bahrain next month. 

This was announced by Khalid Al-Haj, Assistant Undersecretary for Sports Affairs and Facilities at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, during his visit to Khalifa Sports City Arena.

The championship, organised under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, will be held from November 12 to 19. The event is jointly organised by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF).

Accompanying Al-Haj in the visit were Khalid Al-Khayat, President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF), Member of the Supreme Organising Committee and Head of the Executive Committee of the World Amateur MMA Championship, Omar Abdulaziz Bukamal Head of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Media Office, Member of the Supreme Organising Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee, Mohammed Shahid, CEO of Khalid Bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) Team and other officials.

It’s worth mentioning that the fourth edition of the championship is organised for the first time in of Bahrain and Asia, reflecting the aspirations of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of BMMAF to develop MMA sports in the Kingdom and the entire region. The championship will be held within the International Combat Week, which also features other activities and events such as the ninth edition of Brave MMA Championships held under the title “Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions”. Golden Tulip Hotel has been chosen as the official residence of the visiting delegations.
