Tamkeen backs Theatres Festival

Manama : Tamkeen has announced its backing to this year’s edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability as its strategic partner. 

Announcing the decision, Dr Ibrahim Janahi, CEO of Tamkeen, expressed his appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his constant efforts and support to the Bahraini youth, sports and cultural movement.

He said that the partnership of Tamkeen comes within its responsibilities towards the community and strategies to support the youth of the Kingdom.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, praised Tamkeen for its continuous support to Bahraini youths in the fields of sports, art, culture, innovation and humanitarian work.

Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability held at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen was launched on Wednesday by Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, on behalf of Shaikh Khalid. The event will continue until 21st this month. 

The event, now in its third edition, is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

The festival is annually held as part of Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Initiatives to support the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain and engage them with different events and activities. This year’s edition is themed #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile and aims at empowering the youth in the fields of arts,  cultural and humanitarian works.

12 teams representing local clubs and youth centres have been chosen by the organising committee from among 32 teams that initially applied for the activity. The teams will perform the main shows during the 18-day long festival, which will also include three additional shows that will be held on the sidelines of the main plays.

Celebrities and well known figures in the field of acting from Bahrain and the GCC have visited the festival. Ahmed Yaqoub Al-Muqla, famous Bahraini Director, visited the festival on its sixth day and attended the “He Was An Author” play performed by Al-Hala Cultural and Sports Club on Tuesday. The play was performed by a number of rising Bahraini talents and directed by Nedhal Al-Attawy.

Al-Muqla expressed his admiration for the improvement the festival achieved

The eighth show in the festival is titled “Cases” and is performed by Budaiya Cultural and Sports Club on Thursday. The play is the first participation of the club in the festival and is directed by Ishaq Abdullah.
