LEWAS awards presented in Bahrain

ManamaMinister of Oil, Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa has presented the Leadership Excellence Women Awards in Industry (LEWAS), an industry initiative of Middle East Process Engineering Conference & Exhibition (MEPEC). This year’s recipient of LEWAS awards for excellence in GCC were:

 1. Abrar Al Hadad from ARAMCO, Esra Al Husni from ADCO, and Hiya Al Jassim from GPIC (The Rising Star Award).

2 Fatima Sharif from GPIC, Mariam Al Hindi from GASCO, and Rana Qadeeh from BOROUGE – UAE. (The Leading with Excellence Award)

3 Mena Ma’arefi from Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Najat Sherif from GPIC, and Merhan Kamil from ADCO. (The Women of Achievement Award). 

4 Lord Viva from Abu Dhabi Petroleum Institute and Somaya Al Moyid from Qatar University. (The Academic Distinction Award). 

5 Afsaneh Danshfar and Asma Mohamed from Qatar University, and Safiyah Khalil from Abu Dhabi Petroleum Institute. (The Academic Achievement Award). 

6 Adnan Al Awadhi from ADNOC, Ali Al Mashari from ARAMCO, and Mubarak Al Mutairi from Kuwait National Oil Company. (The Champion Award)

7 ADNOC and TATA Consultancy Services (Corporate Excellence Award).

The awards were presented at ceremony held on the sidelines of the 4th Middle East Process Engineering Conference & Exhibition 2017 being held at the Diplomat Hotel on Monday. The event was organised by the Middle East Energy Events in collaboration with the National Oil & Gas Authority as parts of the activities of the Leading Women Awards in Industry Forum under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. 

During the award ceremony, the Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to Engineer Reem Al Ghanim and team members for their dedicated efforts in spreading the culture of women leadership excellence, encouraging innovation, in addition to supporting talented women in oil and gas industry in the GCC countries. 

He also appreciated the role of the Judging Panel of LEWAS Awards, praising their work in sorting out the entries and deciding the award winners. 

This year witnessed a growing number of entries exceeding 200 participants for the seven categories of the award: the Academic Achievement, the Academic Distinction, the Rising Star, the Leading with Excellence, the Woman of Achievement, the Champion Recognition, and the Corporate Excellence Recognition. 

The Minister congratulated the winners and wished them continued success and progress. 

The Leadership Excellence for Women Awards is an award programme dedicated to recognizing professional excellence of women in the oil & gas industry. LEWAS celebrates women who demonstrate innovation, leadership and talent in both academic and business sectors of the industry. The recipients were judged by industry experts chosen from amongst the partners and committee members of MEPEC.
