Manama : Following a briefing at the Royal Guard camp in Riffa, on the latest preparations for Bahrain International Defence Exhibition & Conference (BIDEC 2017), His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of Bahrain Royal Guard and Chairman of BIDEC, received from Trevor Fletcher, the Head of McLaren Bahrain, a McLaren 570S supercar distributed by Kanoo Motors wrapped in military camouflage to match with the event’s theme.

During the presentation of the supercar, Fletcher commented: “As an iconic luxury car brand, McLaren is honoured to support HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and BIDEC, Bahrain’s first international defence show which will be attended by various dignitaries and VVIP’s from all over the world. This high profile event aligns with McLaren’s spirit of exclusivity and our relentless drive to push the limits of possibility.”

On the upcoming exhibition, which will take place on October 16 and go on till October 18, where the car has been painted in military colours with a BIDEC badge at the front, Pete Dawson, who is the Organizing Committee member of BIDEC said:

“BIDEC is a vision of Shaikh Nasser to spread awareness about the military show. The defence show is the very first show in the Island under the patronage of  His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, where equipment’s of defence across the world, will be displayed during BIDEC.”

He further added that McLaren will serve a greater purpose in attracting people to know more about BIDEC, as the defence force is the backbone of a country, which protects its citizens from every unfortunate event.

Highlighting at a broader scale, Dawson said, We are going to every possible place in Bahrain in McLaren, in order to spread awareness about the upcoming exhibition, and what the exhibition will be like."

On being asked about the source of motivation behind this event, the organizing committee member said:   “HH Shaikh Nasser is the source of motivation behind this event, which is becoming a reality this year. The benefit one is going to reap out of this show is that, economically 5,000-7,000 people will attend the event, mostly by military people, who will get to witness the greatness of defence force, in the form of equipment, who have served a lot for the country.” He further added, “defence is one such field, which teaches one to prioritize between what is important and what is not. By conducting such an event, we are raising Bahrain on the international market front in terms of Military, where the main aim is to match standards with the biggest military shows in the UK, and become the world’s best premier defence shows.”

Ending on a high note, Pete said, “We expect immense support and encouragement from the people of Bahrain, which will encourage us to conduct such kind of shows on high scale, which will result in Bahrain being appreciated and being internationally recognized in terms of military shows.”

Thomas Gaunt, Event Director for BIDEC 2017 also said: “We are proud to form this unique partnership with McLaren which will provide BIDEC with an outstanding promotional opportunity as we approach the show. BIDEC will be Bahrain’s premier international defence show, so it is the perfect fit to associate ourselves with a premium international brand like McLaren.”
