All set for Khalid bin Hamad Theatres Festival in Bahrain

Manama : The third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability, which comes this year under the slogan #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile, serves various noble goals, said HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honourary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation. 

The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Muharraq Model Youth Centre today and will include an entertaining programme. An art gallery will also be inaugurated on the sidelines of the opening ceremony and will continue throughout the festival.

12 plays will be performed by local youth centres and clubs during the 18 day long festival, which will also include three additional shows that will be held on the sidelines of the main shows. The participating 12 teams in the festival include Tubli Club, Galali Club, Zallaq Youth Centre, Karzakkan Youth Centre, Hamad Town Youth Centre, Al-Hala Club, Al-Jasra Youth Centre, Budaiya Club, Buhair Youth Centre, Shakhoora Youth Centre, Barbar Club and the National Foundation for the Services of People With Disabilities, in addition to East Riffa Youth Centre, Buri Club and Al-Naeem Youth Centre who will perform the three additional shows on the sidelines of the main plays.

Several renowned theatre actors and actresses of Bahrain will be honoured in the opening ceremony of the festival, as well as the teams that presented the introductory workshops that were organised as part of the preparations for the festival.

The organising committee previously announced screening a short movie on the last two editions of the festival, highlighting the main events and achievements, in addition to an operetta dedicated to the Kingdom of Bahrain.  

The festival is organised for the third consecutive year on October 4 to 21 on the stage of Muharraq Model Youth Centre by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa under the patronage of HH.

It comes within Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Initiatives to support the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain and people with disabilities and to engage them with different events and activities.
