India win toss, bat against Australia

Kolkata : India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first in the second one-day international against Australia at Eden Gardens on Thursday.

The hosts, who lead the five-match series 1-0, have retained the XI that beat Australia by 26 runs in the rain-hit first ODI in Chennai on Sunday.

"Nice and hard wicket, ball may do a bit under lights, plus we have two wrist spinners," Kohli said of the pitch which had mostly remained covered for the past three days following seasonal rain in the eastern city of Kolkata.

Australia captain Steve Smith, who made his debut against the West Indies in Melbourne in 2010, said he was "excited" to be playing his 100th one-day international.

"It has taken me seven years to get to 100 ODIS," he  said. "Excited to play here at Eden. I would've batted first as well."

The tourists made two changes to their starting line-up with right-arm medium-quick bowler Kane Richardson and left-arm spinner Ashton Agar replacing James Faulkner and Adam Zampa.
