Big win for Muharraq

ManamaMuharraq Youth Centre defeated Sanad Youth Centre 4-1 to lift the trophy for the first time in the final for the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament, of the Fifth Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, which concluded on Sunday night at Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town.

The Special Olympics Team beat the Movement Disability Team 2-0 to clinch the diasabled tournament title and in the first girls’ tournament, Team Will ran out 4-0 winners against Team Determination.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities congratulated the winners of the three tournaments.

Following the finals, the winners were honoured by Minister of Sports Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder, who deputised for Shaikh Khalid on the final day at the closing ceremony, which was attended by members of the House of Representatives and Shura Council, Municipal Councils heads and members and a number of senior officials and social figures in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Shaikh Khalid acknowledged the strong performance of Muharraq Youth Centre Team during different stages of the league and their determination to win the league for the first time and the efforts by Sanad Youth Centre on reaching the final for the first time.

Shaikh Khalid also congratulated the winning team and the efforts of all in the disabilities competition, which was held for the second time, while in the girls’ tournament, highlighted the importance of developing local female athletes by competing in such events and the ability of Bahraini women to compete in all sorts of sports activities.

Shaikh Khalid thanked the sponsors, partners and members of the organising committee in making the league a success and a popular sports event among the Bahraini youth.
