Bahrain hotels report 90 per cent occupancy during Eid

Manama : The occupancy rates of Bahrain hotels during the recent Eid Al Adha holidays reached 90 per cent as confirmed by top hoteliers in the Kingdom.

According to four- and five-stars hotel representatives, the majority of guests during the holidays were from Saudi Arabia and fellow GCC countries.

The high occupancy rate this year is because of the long Eid Al Adha holidays, which was extended to 16 days in some countries such as Saudi Arabia, hotel representatives said in statements to the Bahrain News Agency.

The officials highlighted that the hospitality sector is promising as it continues to attract investors, adding that the public and private sectors in Bahrain should concentrate on supporting this key sector.

They all agreed that the peak of occupancy was reached on the second day of Eid and that Bahrain is currently the favourite destination for tourists from the GCC region.

They also said that occupancy rates hiked by at least 70 per cent this year as many hotels offered attracting packages to GCC tourists with competitive prices, Eid brunch and other offers.

According to the hoteliers, who represent a number of the leading four and five stars hotels in the Kingdom, hotels and resorts with sea view have taken the lion’s share of the guests this year, with many families preferring the sea view and water activities offered by these facilities.

They also said that most reservations were made on the front desks of the hotels, while the remaining were made online using the hotels’ websites or international reservations’ smartphones applications.
