Police arrest two men for smuggling marijuana
Manama : Two men were arrested by the police after they were found smuggling marijuana into Bahrain by hiding it inside a wooden painting.
The men, Asian nationals, now face charges of smuggling narcotic substances into the Kingdom with the intention of selling it.
The First Higher Criminal Court will hear their case on September 28.
According to case files, the package of painting reached Bahrain from Bangladesh through UAE. Around 3 kilograms of marijuana were found hidden, wrapped in plastic, inside the wooden painting.
The K-9 unit in Interior Ministry found the stashed narcotics with the help of police dogs. Anti-narcotics police, who sprang into action immediately, nabbed the suspects.
