BCCI appeals to revoke CR fee hike

ManamaThe Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) yesterday appealed to His Royal Highness, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, to revoke the newly introduced Commercial Registration (CR) fee hike which would enter into force on 22 September 2017, citing its negative impact on the businesses here.

Expressing deep concerns, the Chamber, in its official correspondence to the Prime Minister, said that the businesses here “might go bankrupt or exit the market as a result”.

Referring to the edict issued by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, BCCI also stressed on the need to consult with the Chamber prior to implementing any new laws or regulations which would affect the private sector.

Meanwhile, in another development, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism invited commercial establishments, individuals, companies and other institutions in the Kingdom to verify the fees for their activities by visiting the portal: www.sijilat.com.

This, according to the Ministry, is necessary to continue their commercial activities as per the edict No. (130) of 2016.

The Ministry has also invited traders to review their activities in the Commercial Register section to determine whether they “want to keep them or cancel any activity, as well as to take full account of the new fees structure”.
