The works are part of the $1.2 Billion projects included within the GCC Development Programme.  The projects are expected to change the roads network tremendously to be able to accommodate the rapid increase in population and the housing and urban growth in the Kingdom.

Works also include lighting, signage, painting of ground markings and completing the construction of Road 2841 as a single road with one lane in each direction, which is also parallel to Ghous Highway; connecting it to the existing exit along Sheikh Isa Causeway. This, according to the minister, will contribute to alleviating traffic congestion along Ghous Highway and providing smooth traffic flow in the area, especially Saya Island with its housing and commercial units. The project will also enable people to exit the area directly along Sheikh Isa Causeway towards Manama.
