Car crash: Drunk mechanic gets three months jail
Manama : The Third Higher Criminal Court on Monday sentenced an auto mechanic to three months behind bars and a fine of BD1,190 for crashing the car of his customer under the influence of alcohol. According to Court files, the 32-year-old Asian auto-mechanic jumped a red signal on Shaikh Salman Highway near Isa Town at around 2 am while driving the vehicle without the permission of his customer.
He then crashed the car into a vehicle that was coming from the opposite direction. After escaping the scene, the mechanic parked the car near Sultan Mall in Zayed Town and walked back home in Salmabad. The owner of the car filed the case against the mechanic. The verdict in the case was pronounced on Monday.
