Road works underway to reduce traffic congestion

ManamaWorks are underway to improve the traffic signal located at the Northern entrance to Isa Town, said the Works Ministry in a statement.

Road users are urged to plan ahead and adhere to the new traffic diversions and traffic regulations.

The move, in coordination with the Traffic General Directorate, follows the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to reduce traffic congestion across the Kingdom.

Works to increase the capacity of the Salmabad Interchange and reduce waiting times include reducing signal phases to three from five.

The Ministry of Works submitted a series of urgent projects, of which 11 were approved by the Executive Committee, as part of a wider masterplan to ensure the Kingdom’s strategic road network is able to accommodate increased urban expansion. The process is due to be completed by 2022.

Alternate routes

Traffic coming from Salmabad towards Manama should head West along Salmabad Avenue towards the roundabout nearby the University of AMA, and then turn right towards Manama

Traffic coming from Amman Avenue heading to Riffa along Sheikh Salman Highway should use other routes within Isa Town.

Alternatively, keep driving towards the Salmabad external road and take the left turn along Salmabad External Road or opt for the right turn towards Shaikh Salman Highway to the North and take the U-turn at the Interchange of Shaikh Salman Highway and Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.

Traffic coming from the South on Shaikh Salman Highway towards Salmabad External road should use alternative route, which is to keep driving towards Shaikh Salman Highway and Sehla Avenue Interchange in order to make a U-turn
