Gold chain snatched from woman’s neck

Manama : A 36-year -old woman’s gold chain was snatched in the capital area around 7:30 pm on Friday. 

Sindhu, a resident who lives near Shifa Al Jazeera Hospital, Manama, was walking with a friend of her’s at the Jawad House Lane, Manama, when a man snatched the chain and ran away. 

“My wife was walking with a friend of her’s, three children and my 7-year-old son at the Jawad House Lane. They were heading towards a shop to purchase something when a man snatched the chain from her neck and ran away,” Manoj, Sidhu’s husband, said.

“We got access to the CCTV footage of that night and according to the CCTV footage a person from behind came in forward and waited for my wife to pass, and as soon as she reached near him, he snatched the chain and ran away,” he said.

“We did complain to the police station, and investigations are going on to find out the thug,” he added.

Rajnikanth Fichadia, 59, owner of the World Jewellers, was robbed of gold ornaments worth BD13,000 at the same location a couple of months ago. The incident happened on March 28 when Fichadia was waiting at the door of his son’s jewellery shop opposite Jawad House when a gang-of-four attacked him and snatched the gold.
