PM orders to implement infra projects

ManamaPrime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has ordered to implement a series of infrastructure projects including construction of a new flyover between the two main highways in the country. The directives came while the Premier received Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.

The Premier gave instructions to begin the implementation of several projects, including the second phase of the Jasra Interchange Project, which will ease traffic from Manama to Janabiya, Budaiya and other towns and villages.

HRH Prime Minister also gave directives to put the long-term care centre for chronic diseases in Muharraq to tender, and to revamp the old market in Muharraq by building a number of traditionally-designed commercial shops with integrated services at the site of burnt souq.

Minister Khalaf updated HRH Prime Minister on the progress of roads and infra projects being implemented in the Kingdom.

HRH Premier was informed about the second phase of the Jasra Interchange Development Project aiming to ensure smooth traffic towards all directions through the removal of the existing traffic lights.

HRH Premier was briefed about the Old Muharraq Souq’s revamp project, including a traditionally-designed building covering 3255 square metres. Containing 31 commercial outlets, the project work will commence on August 1, and last until December 16, 2018.

HRH Premier was also given details about the Health Ministry’s long-term care centre for chronic diseases in Muharraq, which is part of a medical centres’ complex, built on the land of the Muharraq Maternity Hospital. The complex also contains a maternity hospital and a centre for patients with multiple sclerosis, in addition to the existing elderly care centre.

Funded by the Saudi Fund for Development, the BD13.87 million facility will be put to tender by the end of August, and the construction will commence in March 2018. HRH Premier stressed the need to expedite the implementation of the projects as per highest quality levels to meet the citizens’ needs.

HRH Premier highlighted the government’s keenness on implementing development projects across the Kingdom to upgrade the infrastructure in the health, education, housing and traffic sectors to ensure comfort for the citizens and facilitate their life affairs.

HRH Prime Minister commended the efforts exerted by the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to implement various government and service projects, in light of its highly qualified and distinguished national competencies.

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister extended deepest thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his sound directives aiming at achieving good for the nation and the citizens.

He asserted the Ministry’s keenness on implementing development and service projects that meet the citizens’ aspirations for a robust infrastructure that is capable of coping with the population and urban growth.

Flyover to come up on main highway

A new flyover will soon be built between the two main highways in the Kingdom as instructed by the Premier HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The Premier ordered the construction of a direct bridge connecting the intersection of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway to Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway to facilitate traffic for those heading from Manama to Isa Town and other region, instead of the current exit to Isa Town from the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway.

The Premier was briefed by Works, Municipalities Affairs Minister Essam Khalaf about the development of the intersection between the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway and the Shaikh Isa Highway, which includes a two-lane bridge that leads the traffic coming from the north of the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway directly to the east of the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.
