Colbrelli races to finish sixth overall

ManamaBahrain’s Merida Pro Cycling Team rider, Sonny Colbrelli (four hours 21 minutes 57 seconds) raced brilliantly yesterday to finish sixth overall on the 14th stage of the 104th Tour de France from Blagnac to Rodez over 181.5km.

Colbrelli was a mere second behind stage winner, Australian Michael Matthews (4:21:56) of Team Sunweb.

The tour began with 22 teams comprising 198 riders racing 21 stages over 3,540km in varying terrains such as flat courses, hills and the mountains, with the final stage on 23 July covering 103km over a flat course from Montgeron to the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

The tour resumes today with the 15th stage taking the remaining (176) riders towards the Alps mountains from Laissac-Severac L’Eglisle to Le Puy-En-Velay over 189.5km.
