Housing needs of Duraz to be met: Minister

ManamaWithin the on-going efforts to implement His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s directives to identify the needs of Duraz and its neighbouring villages regarding services and facilities, Housing Minister, Bassim bin Yaqoob Al-Hamar received a delegation from those villages.

The delegation comprised MP Fatima Al-Asfoor, former Shura Council member, Ali Al-Asfoor, as well as dignitaries from Duraz and its neighbouring villages and representatives of their citizens.

The meeting focused on the Housing Ministry’s procedures and programmes to meet their housing needs following the field visit conducted by the Minister of Housing and the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to Duraz recently.

The minister asserted that since the field visit, the Housing Ministry has strived to study the housing needs in Duraz in order to put forward the necessary plans and programmes to meet them through the current or future housing projects in the Northern Governorate.

He affirmed that HRH the Prime Minister’s directives to be informed about the service and facilities needs of Duraz and its surrounding villages reflect the unwavering interest of the leadership and the government in the Bahraini citizens.

He highlighted HRH Premier’s constant directives to the need to provide housing services in various villages and governorates to preserve the social fabric there. He added that the Housing Services Directorate is keen on putting forward plans that ensure the distribution of housing services to the citizens in accordance with the capacity of the projects implemented in various governorates, noting the Duraz housing needs are included in those plans and will be met fairly and transparently, like other regions and villages.

He affirmed that the recent field visit had contributed significantly to identifying the Duraz villagers’ housing needs, noting that the Northern City housing project will absorb a great number of the village’s housing needs, given the proximity of Duraz to the project and the need to achieve the principle of preserving the existing social texture. Duraz dignitaries and representatives of its citizens extended thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his directives to identify and meet their needs, which, they said, reflects his interest in the service needs of Bahrainis.

They also valued highly the efforts of the Housing Ministry to provide housing to Bahrainis particularly in Duraz.
