Stack Lego fans event kicks off

ManamaBahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has launched the Stack Event, an educational and entertaining programme that provides both children and adults the opportunity to work together in building different sets using Lego bricks in a fun and creative methods while enjoying the different activities in a fun-filled atmosphere.

The event, a novel theme in the Middle East, was inaugurated by Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani in the presence of the BTEA chief executive Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa and other officials.  The event will run for a period of five days until July 8.

 “Hosting such international events reflects BTEA’s success in attracting international foreign investors as well as showcasing the Kingdom’s unique key attributes in hosting international and regional exhibitions and conferences in Bahrain,” said Al Zayani.

“Such events are also in line with further strengthening Bahrain’s position as regional player within the tourism sector especially family tourism,” he added.

“BTEA aims to continue its efforts in positioning the Kingdom as the center for family tourism across the region by launching various exhibitions and events as well as providing a unique experience to visitors of all ages. This comes as part of our long term strategy to position the tourism sector as a significant resource in-line with the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030,”  said Chief Executive Officer of BTEA,  Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa. 

The event covers an area of 3,515 sqm for the main activities and an area of 350 sqm dedicated to vendors including food and a Lego retail area.

This event encourages creativity and targets a wide range of audience for it being educational and entertaining, it also provides family members the opportunity to understand and learn the simple mechanics and engagement. 

The entertainment area includes various zones including “the souq” which includes representation of traditional characters in addition to the “desert scene” area.

Families can enjoy playing and building using more than 100,000 Lego pieces. The event also includes “Build A City” area where visitors will get the chance to build famous landmarks form Bahrain and around the globe.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the activities and Lego competitions area that includes advanced video games and the kid’s cinema playing Lego movies.

Additionally, the event also includes an educational area inspiring them to build a sample of their houses and at the same time exchange skills with other players. While the “brainstorming” area offers lessons on how to build robots using the Lego pieces.

Other activities that kids can enjoy includes finding missing Lego pieces and race to put it together in the fastest time possible to win a gift from the kids competition zone. It also includes an exhibition of the famous international movies such as “Ice Age” and “Disney Princesses” and others.

The STACK event will open its doors to visitors from 10am – 7pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and 10am-10pm during the weekend. Tickets are sold for 3 BD at the venue.
