GPIC wins RoSPA award

Manama : The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has been awarded the Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Golden Category Award in recognition of its outstanding achievements in the field of safety.

The award was presented during a ceremony held in London under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth II.

RoSPA President and Lord of Bournville, Lord MCkenzie of Luton, dignitaries and representatives of industrial companies around the world, were present.

Receiving the honour, Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said GPIC continued to adhere to the highest standards of safety and professionalism. He said this was an unprecedented achievement with the GPIC having competed with 5,500 companies around the
world.

He said the recognition is a tribute to Bahraini and Gulf industries in general and reaffirms the Company’s highest standards in the field of safety.

Dr. Jawahery pledged to continue to raise levels in the field of safety, health, environment and accident prevention, which, he said, was a pillar on which all decisions are
taken.

He dedicated the award to Bahrain’s wise leadership in honour of its support to the petrochemical industry and its commitment to safety, health and the environment.

GPIC has a global reputation for safety in the petrochemical industry and has won many local, regional and international awards. Among them are the Robert Campbell Award for Safety, Health and Environment from the United States National Safety and the Sir George Earl Award from RoSPA, in the process becoming the only regional company to do
so.

RoSPA is a charitable organisation working on safety in society and works to prevent accidents of all kinds, including those on the road, at work or at home. The Society was founded in 1917 during the First World War to alert the community to the causes of accidents and ways to address them through studies and research. RoSPA consists of 120 employees in all fields and disciplines.
