Warning issued against new wave of cyber attacks
Manama : Cyber security authorities yesterday warned of a new wave of cyber attacks targeting social media users in Bahrain.
The General Directorate of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security in Interior Ministry said that “multiple hacking attempts by fake accounts on social media networks have been detected recently”.
Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security General Director Colonel Bassam Al Miraj called upon the public to be vigilant and cautious to such attempts.
“Vigilance is necessary at this stage. Do not open random, suspicious or source-less links, in order to avoid any infiltrations that may be carried out by lawbreakers who seek to exploit these operations in extortion and defamation,” The official said in a statement issued here yesterday.
