Indian school honours toppers

ManamaMore than 280 outstanding achievers of the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) including the Island Toppers in the CBSE examinations were honoured at an Academic Award Ceremony held on Thursday at the Jashanmal Auditorium of the ISB Isa Town campus.  

130 students of class X who have scored A1 in all subjects in CBSE exam, 30 students of class XII, 31 students of class XI, 23 students of class IX and 74 students of class VIII were awarded with plaques and certificates of merit during this function.  

Chief Guest Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha and Guest of Honour French Ambassador  Bernard Regnauld-Fabre inaugurated the award ceremony by lighting the lamp and distributed the gold medals to the Island Toppers, School Toppers and  stream wise toppers. 

ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Secretary Dr Shemily P John, Vice Chairman Moahmmed Iqbal, Assistant General Secretary Dr C G Manoj Kumar, Executive Committee Members Mohammad Khursheed Alam(Academics), Saji Antony(IT), Jayafar Maidani (Sports), Staff Representative Priya Laji, Principal V R Palaniswamy, Principal Sudhir Krishnan (Riffa Campus ), Vice Principals, Head Teachers, coordinators, teachers and parents were present on the occasion.

Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha said: “Going through the results, getting 100 out of 100 in so many subjects is something really appreciative and admirable. I take this opportunity to congratulate the students who have done so well in the examination; it’s indeed a great achievement. I am sure this itself will encourage and inspire you to do much better in future in your career and higher studies.”

French Ambassador Bernard Regnauld Fabre said:  “As a nice evidence of the fruitful cooperation, I have great pleasure to announce that the French Embassy will offer two scholarships to seniors students of the Indian School who wish to pursue their higher studies in France to understand the unique language and culture of the country.”

Addressing the gathering, ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan congratulated the students and asked them to carry forward this excellence and never rest on current laurels. ISB Secretary Dr Shemily P John said that the school has proved the academic excellence.

Special certificate of merit for the subject toppers in class XII, Principal Honour’s award and merit certificates for the classes XI and XII,  A1 certificate for grade IX were also awarded by the dignitaries.  The Indian School newsletter Tidings was also released during the function.  Earlier, Principal V R Palaniswamy welcomed the gathering and presented the highlight of the board results. EC Member (IT) Saji Antony roposed vote of thanks. 

The awards Instituted by Bahrain Chapter of the Institute  of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI) were distributed to Commerce Stream Toppers Neha Chinnu Idiculla, Anirudh Narayanan Suresh and Parichey Sharma in the presence of BCICAI President Vivek Kapoor and Vice Chairperson Uday Shanbhag.
