AMA International School – Bahrain learning support programme

ManamaIn September 2016, AMA International School – Bahrain (AMAISB) launched a pilot project on Learning Support for elementary and preschool departments for students with learning difficulties and special needs. The programme is designed to ensure that adequate levels of proficiency are achieved in literacy, numeracy and life skills.

The Learning Support Department has coordinated programmes and services based on the principle that students vary in their learning styles and needs and that each of them respond best to learning programmes that are specifically designed to meet their individual needs.

An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is created for each learner, which outlines the child’s abilities, skills and talents along with his/her special needs and difficulties.

The file also contains sets of specific short-term and long-term goals intended to be achieved by the child at specified periods of time.

The Learning Support Programme has received positive comments, particularly from the parents, the school said in a statement.

“The parents’ motivating feedbacks have signified an indication to the AMAISB team to continue to embark on productive and valuable programmes, such as the Learning Support.”
