Grooming champions

Manama : HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), witnessed the launch of the final stage of the Giro D’Italia in its 100th edition, one of the strongest cycling races with wide participation of elite teams.

He was present at the starting line of the race attended by the Bahrain Merida Cycling Team, giving the cyclists great incentive to achieve positive results that contribute to the attainment of goals for which the team was founded.

The Giro D’Italia is one of the strongest international races due to the difficulty of the route of the race as well as the great challenges posed by the terrain, which is always a point of difficulty in such races.

The Tour of Italy began from the island of Sardinia reaching the final stage in the Italian city of Milan, with 21 stages during which cyclists cross 3615 km amid strong competition between the participating teams for victory.

Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed the keenness of Bahrain to be present in various sporting events to promote the Kingdom, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to highlight Bahrain’s bright cultural image, especially in sports. He pointed out that Bahrain has been keen to be present through teams that carry the Kingdom’s name in various sporting events, whose champions have scored many outstanding achievements.

He also indicated that the participation of the team will have a positive impact on the Kingdom to become a home of cycling in the Middle East, which is a major step in the promotion of the Kingdom in line with the 2030 vision.
