Ahlia University wins Bahrain Bourse TradeQuest

Manama : Ahlia University emerged as the winner of the TradeQuest challenge organised by the Bahrain Bourse in which five teams from universities all over the Bahrain participated.

BIBF and the University of Bahrain grabbed the second and third spot, respectively.

Announcing the awards at a ceremony held on Wednesday, Bahrain Bourse Chairman, Abdul Kareem Bucheery, also revealed that an Arabic version of the TradeQuest programme will be introduced next year to mark the programme’s 20th anniversary.

The first place winner received a cash prize of BD3,500 and a trophy, while the second and third place winners received BD2,100 and BD1,400, respectively.  Awards were presented by Bucheery in the presence of students and their families, senior representatives from sponsoring organisations and other invited guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaikh Khalifa said, “We believe that the youth are the engine of growth and development. This is practically implemented at the Bourse where 55 per cent of the employees are below the age of 35.  That is why a programme like TradeQuest is very important to students who will hopefully become successful employees in a few years”. TradeQuest is a simulated business-education partnership programme that focuses on investment trading in world financial markets. The programme is geared to provide students close-to-life experience in the stock markets.

This year five teams participated in the programme, which includes that from Ahlia University, BIBF, University of Bahrain, Applied Science University and Royal University for Women.
